About Leaf Teahouse

Leaf Teahouse is a contemporary tearoom in the heart of downtown Boise, Idaho, committed to providing high quality, loose-leaf teas from around the world. Our teahouse menu offers a selection of fresh salads, healthy small plates and snacks to compliment our teas and reflect the variety of cultures where tea is grown and enjoyed. All of our teas are available for bulk purchase, too. Sit down and enjoy a cup, then take some home to share with your family and friends.

Leaf Teahouse also provides a community space where local musicians and artists are welcome to showcase and promote their work. We welcome small groups to reserve our second floor atrium and gallery space for meetings, gatherings and events in a vibrant, downtown setting.

Our Mission

Other than water, tea is the most consumed beverage on the planet. People on every continent enjoy daily. However, there are as many different varieties of tea and ways to enjoy it as there are cultures. At Leaf Teahouse, we embrace this diversity. Our mission is to bring the world to your cup by providing wide variety of high-quality loose-leaf teas from around the globe for you to sample and discover which are your favorites.

We also know that appreciating great tea goes beyond simply drinking it. Leaf Teahouse invites our guests to learn more about the history and process of growing tea, how it’s harvested and treated, how to best prepare it, and what differentiates one tea from another. It is our hope that when you leave our shop, you will not only have enjoyed a cup (or more) of tea, but also come to understand a bit more about the world’s most popular brewed beverage.

At Leaf Teahouse, you can compliment your tea with your choice of a variety of healthy small plates and snacks. Our lunch menu offers a selection of salads with flavors from around the globe and an assortment of locally-prepared baked goods. Acknowledging the different cultures from which our teas originate, we pair appetizers and teas which share a common place of origin. Would you like to enjoy some house-made Asian steamed buns with your green tea? How about English Breakfast tea with scones?

Who We Are

Ever since she began visiting Boise in 2007, owner Susan Judge has enjoyed the city, its culture, and natural surroundings. However, she felt the downtown core was missing something she sought: a place to enjoy a well-made cup of specialty tea. Thinking that others would enjoy the same thing, she moved to Boise in 2013 with plans to start Leaf Teahouse. A tea aficionado since her high school days, Susan has studied teas and tea culture for many years, and enjoys sharing her knowledge and hospitality with others.

Geoff Hill, Susan’s son and an alumnus of the College of Idaho, is an aspiring orchestral violinist who currently performs with the Boise Philharmonic, Boise Baroque Orchestra, Boise Classical Revolution, Oregon East Symphony, and a variety of other ensembles. Surrounded by aspects of Chinese and Japanese culture as he was growing up in the Northwest, he has a natural affinity for tea, and is proud to be able to share it with the people of Boise.
